The Collective Security Treaty Organization is ready to assist in normalizing the situation on the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. This was stated by CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas, speaking on November 23 at a joint meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Council of Defense Ministers and the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils of the CSTO, TASS reports .
“In the Central Asian region, we attach particular importance to the normalization of the situation on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border. We believe that the CSTO has the necessary resources and experience to assist our two states to achieve this goal, of course, if Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan consider it necessary,” – he emphasized.
Also, according to Zas, in the region “there is a danger of the spread of terrorist activity, illegal trafficking in weapons and drugs from Afghanistan on the territory of the CSTO member states.”
In this regard, “the issue of strengthening border security on the Tajik-Afghan border does not go unnoticed,” he said.
