1001 Quran Memorizers Honored in Turkey’s Erzurum

A ceremony was held in Erzurum, eastern Turkey, to laud the achievement of a large number individuals who have managed to learn the Holy Quran by heart.

The Dar al-Ifta Center of Erzurum organized the ceremony, in which 1001 Quran memorizers were honored, according to Turkish media.

A number of religious and Quranic officials and figures took part in the program, held at a sports hall.

Fateh Kuret, director of the religious affairs department, in an address underlined the importance of memorizing the Quran and said people in Turkey love the Quran and serving the Holy Book.

He also noted that some 12,500 managed to memorize the Quran in the country last year, which is a record high since the establishment of the Republic of Turkey.

The boy and girl Quran memorizers received memorization certificates and gifts at the ceremony.

The Holy Quran is the only religious Scripture that is memorized by its followers.

Innumerable persons in every Muslim community have memorized the Quran since the first day it was revealed.

The Quran has 30 Juzes (parts), 114 Surahs (chapters) and 6,236 verses.
